A few years ago I didn't know what to get my Dad for a birthday present. I wanted something personal so decided that I'd send him a piece of art. Whenever I visited my Dad and his partner Shelia, especially in Summer we were surrounded by the flowers in the garden and the lush green of the Bath countryside. So, I decided that the subject matter would be flowers but the painting would be modern and expressionist. The creation process was a turning point in my style as an artist especially the mix of paint and ink. I was very pleased with the end result and found the process very enjoyable. Finally I felt that I had depicted a quite traditional subject in a fresh and bold style that reflected me. Please see a photo of it below:
I'm currently working on a new flower painting to go into my portfolio. I've used more pinks and peachy colours in this one. Please feel free to keep track on it's progress on my Instagram page as I'm taking photos, every so often. I'll be adding it into my website portfolio soon too.
