I've just started five new smaller canvases. I prefer to work on several canvases at the same time no matter what the canvas size. It means I can swap over paintings, while waiting for layers to dry without having to stop. For these I want the colour layers to be really strong and opaque, so am applying thick layers of paint for each colour I use. Sometimes I have to wait for one colour layer to dry before going back over, depending on the shade. I had quite a few empty pots from ‘Lush’ and have found these are quite good for keeping paint fresh for a couple of days. These canvas sizes are also easier to manage as I can fit a couple on my desk at the same time! - normally I commandeer our dining room table for drying large canvases.
A few weeks ago, I visited Newstead Abbey and I wanted to do some paintings inspired by the flowers I saw. Again, my paintings have a little bit of my imagination creeping in and are almost going to be an abstract pattern at the end I think. I will keep posting my progress pictures of them on Instagram and post the finished articles on my blog.
